In 2022, my wife and I purchased a beautiful new single family home from D.R. Horton. At the time, the purchase price was reasonable and the sales office staff were very nice and helpful. There were some negative aspects such as it took D.R. Horton almost a year to complete unfinished items on the homes punchout list. Numerous calls and emails were constantly made to get D.R. Horton to finish the work. This effort frustrated my wife and myself. We were stressed out and angry having to chase them all the time. Felt like it was a big waste of time. Although D.R
Horton built a quality home, they skimmped on lots of items.For example, one would expect that a home costing just under 500k would come with rain gutters. Our home did not and the contract was silent. This was true for many items. No handles for very expensive wood shaker cabinets. The stainless steel appliances were all Whirlpool products, but were base models at the lower end of the spectrum.
